DS31 Los Altos. Chinese hand-painted mother-of-pearl plaque, fan-shaped, landscape with calligraphy, engraved reverse, circa 1940-1970, probably produced in eastern China, Suzhou region. It describes how the moon's reflection seems to move with the current of water even though the moon is fixed in place, symbolic of the idea that while the world is in motion, truth remains unchanged.
