VINTAGE 'ANCIENT CITY HEALTH BALL FACTORY' HAND THERAPY BALLS FROM BAODING CHINA Baoding balls were first made thousands of years ago out of iron during the Ming Dynasty, and their use developed alongside the principles of Traditional Chinese Medicine. The original principle behind their use has not changed during those thousands of years. Baoding balls are still relied on today for physical therapy of the hands, soothing symptoms of carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis and tendinitis. Whether you're into martial arts and want to gain hand strength, or you're a musician looking to improve dexterity, or you're an athlete trying to recover from hand injury or weakness, Baoding balls may be a way to improve hand coordination and the function of muscles and tendons in the hands. To use, hold both Baoding balls in a single hand and rotate them in your palm, over one another, keeping them in contact throughout. As the hand gains strength and the user becomes more adept, the balls can be rotated without touching. Baoding balls are believed to stimulate palm-of-hand acupressure points. This boxed set contains two balls crafted from smooth chrome. There are other Baoding balls available elsewhere, but often they are painted, and they may not be as functional as traditional smooth chrome. This set of Baoding balls has a chime inside each one. One ball has a higher tone (representing Yang principle) and the other a lower tone (representing Yin principle). Each chrome ball is approx 1 3/4" in diameter.
