Object: This auction is for a very beautifully hand embroidered Chinese silk tapestry or needlepoint framed and ready for wall display. The Chinese theme of 100 children is rich with symbolism and this needlepoint is often given as a wedding present to young married couples as a wish for luck and fertility, per online research. The blue silk background and red border is especially impressive and rarer than other background colors. Item comes professionally framed and matted with a gold-toned faux-bamboo wooden frame and glass front. There is an inscription on the paper backing that dates it to 1986 and as originating from Beijing, China. This piece makes an impressive presentation; photos cannot do justice. Any reflections or odd toning are from the camera. Artist/Studio: Handmade in China; no signature. The paper backing has an inscription in red that reads, "May 1986, Beijing China, Tom & Andrea." The framer's label reads in part, "La Galeria, Case Grande, Arizona." Fabric, needlework and matting protected under glass. Colors and stitching appear crisp and bright and clean and free of marks. There may be minor surface wear on the frame. Paper backing has one corner coming loose. Item has been lightly cleaned for photos but comes as found and as is. Any further cleaning or polishing will be left to the winner. Please see photos.
