Pair Vintage Chinese Black Lacquer Applied Hardstone Court Figures, MOP Inlay

Specifications

Matched pair of Chinese black lacquer wall panels, each 24” tall × 10” wide. Each panel features applied three-dimensional carved hardstone (soapstone) figures of court ladies and pagodas set against a black lacquered ground with gold-painted architectural and floral details. Borders feature mother-of-pearl inlay in a geometric pattern. Original brass fretwork hanging hardware at top. Scenes depict elegant court ladies in palace garden settings with multi-tiered pagodas, weeping willow, and bamboo. Condition: One panel has lacquer loss and chipping along the top edge exposing raw wood. Both panels are otherwise intact with all hardstone figures present. Sold as a pair.
